Thoughts from an session dropping some eaves.

The scene: Me sitting on a train opposite a group of 12 year old girls. Earphones in, music off all the better to hear them with.

The conversation (a summary): 'But what clotheItalics does she suit? I know she suits skinny jeans but what about *brand name* tops?'

The revelation: Clothes don't suit us anymore, we suit them. This has been known for some time - "the clothes make the man", but now grammar has adopted the phenomenon, so it's official. What a peculiar thing self-identity has become.

  1. "All the better to hear them with." Agreed! And interesting observation. Hmm.
